Pricey Juice Thread

pomegranate juice generally is very expensive..

the actual fruit is expensive... But oh how so delicious it is.. I would but it for R50, if it tastes anything like the proper fresh Pome juice i know off
 
When I was young (in an earlier house) we had a huge pomegranate tree in our backyard, fruit tree garden ... with 2 guava trees, mulberry tree, fig tree, huge mother****ing prickly pear bush and an Oleander bush (but that's poisonous :D It'll kill you).

Point of this post is ... damn, this juice is expensive ... and for no real reason because this tree can grow almost anywhere marginally well.

the main reason the juice is expensive, is that it takes so much of pome seeds for just a little juice. plus its probably time consuming to clean and such.

That old house where I grew up is in a military base but if that was for sale into private ownership I would loan, gamble and steal to buy that piece of property.

Almost 90% of all pomegranates come from Georgia - who is still recovering from the Russo-Georgian war. I think a Russian bomber actually crashed into the main distribution warehouse in Tbilisi - shut down most exports for 2 years. So the price of Pomegranates skyrocketed worldwide. Yes - a soldier shoots a bomber out of the sky halfway around the world - and your juice gets more expensive.
 
Silly when we are sitting in a country with some of the world's best juices.
 
It's the only pomegranate juice I've seen that's not diluted/has other stuff added. And it's a bit too intense on its own, so I end up watering it down. Lasts forever. Good stuff.
I've used it to make pomegranate molasses before too.
