Johannesburg - His captaincy style differs rather markedly from that of Graeme Smith, says Ashwell Prince, new skipper of the South African cricket team.

"People should not expect me to do things the way Graeme did," said Prince said on Monday on the eve of the team's departure for Sri Lanka. "Graeme is a very aggressive captain; I am quieter on the field."

Prince, who will become the first black player to captain South Africa in a cricket Test, realises that only "unforeseen circumstances" led to him captaining the team.

To be completely honest, I have seen very few white or black people in my lifetime. Brown, pink, yellow(ish), light brown, khaki, shaki, etc... not black or white...
Then there was our CPO in the navy... we asked him to smile at night so we could see him coming. He was the closest I'd ever seen to black... but he was indian... so... all this black, white, stuff is twang.
