hi guys,

I have one of these samsung SCX monochrome printers that i usually connect to the usb port on my computer to print. But its becoming increasingly painful to run around the house with a laptop when I need to print. So I'd like to make it wireless.

Can anyone recommend a print server to help me print from my laptop to my printer (which is not wireless). I connect to the internet via a telkom billion router, and hoping its possible to browse the internet and print directly off the internet without having to refresh my network connections and connect to the printer (and thus log off the internet)

Thanks in advance!

I have used the D-Link print servers with great success. You will plug it into router and it will become part of your network.

How difficult is it to connect and setup the router to accept the print server?

Ok. Sounds like you have a computer and a laptop? Am I correct? You might not even need the print server?

yes i do. The desktop, telkom router and printer are all next to each other. But lately at home, we just use our laptops cos its easier (and i can be under the electric blanket while i use it :) )

Ok, So you don't need the print Server.

Make sure the Desktop is switched on, as well as the printers. Share the printer like so:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Share-a-printer

Install the Shared printer on the Laptops and Bob's your uncle, money saved, job done :)

If you need to print in future, just make sure the Desktop and Printers are switched on, that's it.

Just an update: I've just bought and installed a D-link dpr 2000 print server, and it works well. (multi-function version). Its installs easily between the computers at home via a cd installation, so no need for messy IP configuring etc.

Got it from Hong Kong for R680. But available locally for a bit more.
