Hey Guys

Well its becoming a costly affair to continually spend R300 for a black ink cartridge..

I have an Hp officejet printer from about 3 years back now , and everytime i go to buy a cartridge the price seems to go higher and higher each time

so i was wondering..do any of you use the ink filling kit or what not to refill your printer cartridges?

and if so can you tell me which brand and make to get thats cheap and worth it!!!

also does it really damage the printer?

I recently bought a hp deskjet 1500 series. Cheap printer but the catridge supplied emptied really quick. So I just bought the filljet thing from glomail and used that . I've only tried filling the black catridge though . Print quality seems pretty much the same to me.

I have three HP Officejet printers and have never bought a new cartridge. One black cartridge has been refilled 10 times all ready. Never experienced a leaking cartridge.

Ink is from The Ink Place & Ink Inc

at www.inkinc.co.za

Ink make: Inknara

At www.inknara.com

Cost: Two 40ml syringes for R135 when I last bought about 2 months ago.

Eventually I might be forced to buy a new cartridge as the normal refill-ability is about 5 to 7 refills.

Just for interests sake the HP 12A laser cartridge which normally costs between R850 and R1200 is available for +-R350 from aforementioned outlet. Never had a problem with those either.

No, I have not tried any other make as I don't like those one suits all printer refill kits. I might be wrong but I am happy to have found these first and having no problems at all.

I've never refilled a cartridge, but I have bought cartridges from KMP and been very happy with the quality.

I don't mind re-filled toner cartridges... but I stay away from refilled ink cartridges... have had two of them leak and destroyed the printer. Not worth the "savings" or the hassle or the poor print quality.

I gave up with cost of ink jets and rising prices and broke down and bought a laser jet on sale at Makro - new toner cartridges are steep at r500 but they last for thousands of pages.

+1 If color isn't need laser is the way forward.

You can get a Samsung laser (often on special) really cheap (about R 499 or so) and they last forever.

Mines about 1.5 years old gone through one big box of paper (about 2500 pages) and still on the demo cartridge!

Probably the same one I got - loving it.
