Hi all, my mother in law have a canon mp190 smartbase printer. She bought new cartridges, after about 3 weeks that it was dry. So it didn't want to print anymore, the head is still moving as if it was printing, but no ink come out. So I took it to inkyshop, and the guy soaked it there, and the ink came out, so it wasn't blocked, but still nothing. So he sent it in to their workshop, and then they told me that the head was damaged, and a new one will cost R950, incl their labour. Firstly, to replace the head is no big deal, but where do I get such a head, and what does it cost?

Won't it be cheaper to buy a new printer dude? Including labour?

Thats why I want to find out what the head would cost, before I tell her to buy a new printer.

These printers are manufactured as disposable printers (sub $200 printers), which means that they don't really make parts available. Buy a new one.
