Printer question

Hi

We have an Itec B223 printer, and my question is:
Has anyone used this printer before, I need to replace the drum on the unit and I understand that the drum is a non warranty part and is considered a consumable but having to replace the drum every six months seems a bit strange isnt it or is this the normal life-span of a drum in these printers ?
any help or information regarding the printer will be usefull

the drum wont be part of warranty. every 6 months is quite often, depending on how much you print ofcourse? drum doesnt last x amount of time, it lasts x amount of copies.... its like shocks on car, if you drive proper roads and properly they will last forever, if you drive horrible dirt roads 24/7 it will last a few months...
