Printer/Scanner That's good and doesn't cost a fortune to run

Find a sub R800 3/4-in-1 Canon MX-series somewhere. I have had Lexmark, HP and Epson - the Canon has outlasted them all combined and is still going. Best part is that it is old-school in that you can still print when the colour cartridge is finished by just swapping the black whereas the others need both to have some in in them for some idiotic reason before they print.

Also, stay away from anything with "ink-tank" technology. They market it as cost effective but the print head(s) are fscking expensive when they need replacing. Most have only 1 head which won't print if one of the colours are finished.

Canon-compatible cartridges are cheap from places like Inky shops, with the genuine ones going for about R130 more.

You want an ink tank printer.
I just got a Canon g4000. A bit expensive but we need the more advanced features.
A R180 bottle of black ink is good for about 7000 pages. A tenth the cost of the Samsung mfp laser we had before.

Print head is maybe a grand or two. And should last tens if not hundreds of thousands of pages.

Canon MB5440 - 1 year and 3 months old, mainboard gets damaged due to a power dip or spike. And I just installed a new cartridge... Previous HP still going strong after 10+ years. Not too happy with Canon at the moment.
