Hey guys

I want to buy a printer but I'm getting a bit tired of waiting for a cartridges, which printer would you guys suggest I buy, it's only for one person in a office... I have to print a lot of reports, any suggestions would be appreciated?

Budget is not really a problem.

Do you need to print colour?

If not then look at a monolaser printer. The toners generally last longer than cartridges.

If you do go for inkjet, buy one with a CISS already installed... (google)

Incredible Connection have a special this week on a Samsung Laser printer for R400 m-1610 (I think). Got the same one for my wifes business and awesome printer. Prints 1500 pages per tonner. Originals are R700 but generics are R500

Those printers also seem to last quite nicely with little or no hassles

Slightly OT but have you noticed that although toner pricing seems to be staying constant the page yield @ 5% coverage is dropping? Used to be 2500 pages was the norm now I'm seeing figures like 1500 & 1200 quoted.

Toner yields for the different printers vary from 1000 to as much as 10k.

Look at the physical size of the printer & look at the size of the toners. The 10K toner will never fit in a 1000 yield printer.

I agree, the bottom-end laser's page yield is steadily coming down...

What I noticed is that on my printer its 1500 where with the office Samsung its 2500 yet the original replacement cartridges are the exact same price. The office printer did cost R3K compared to the R400 I paid for mine (got it at Game when it was on special).
