I need to buy a new printer but have no idea what or where to buy. What I use at the moment is an inkjet Canon 4300 and Epson cx9300 but spend at least 400 bucks per week on new cartridges. I'm looking for something that can print near photo quality but very economical and from time to time I need to print large volumes. Willing to spend between 5k & 10k but what and where can I get the printer I need?

I would recommend that you buy a Colour Laser Printer.

Best pricing normally from Makro (check weekly specials!).

If you do bulk printing, then go for laser, as Moggie said.
Do you homework on which printer would suite your need (google for reviews, etc).
Go online to find printers in your price range. Start here and here.

I must have bought the wrong colour laser because mine (a lexmark) never got close to being near photo quality.

Most of the laser printers you see in IC, Makro etc. only do 600x600 dpi, far from photo quality. If you need high yields and reasonable quality look at those HPs that use number 88 or the newer 940(?) cartridges. I know on the 88 black XL cartridge they claim something like 2500 pages, similar to a laser printer, but the cartridge only costs roughly R400.

Or buy a Injet that can take the BULK CISS cartridges and buy the ink in gross volumes. Comparible with domestic colour laser printing.

Alternately the more expensive Colour Laser printers from HP, Pansonic, Samsung, Cannon.
