Good day guys

I have a problem and a weird one that I dont understand. I have a hp officejet k5400 based at the office. when I try printing from a certain username it takes up to an hour to bring up the print diaolg after you click on print. but as soon as I log on with another username it works fine. but also if i use another printer on the same username it works fine. network or local printer. is this explainable at all anybody have any ideas of what the problem could be and any soultions. I have uninstalled the printer, removed all reg entries re installed and still no luck. it use to work just fine and when we came back for the new year to the office it just failed to work like it did. running windows vista on the the machine. so any ideas guys let me know.

Switch your firewall off and see if there's any difference.

check that the gateway in your ip settings is the same for the printer and the user.

it is a local printer plugged in via usb so the firewall and ip address wont make a difference at all.

sounds like driver problem. delete the printer from devices. power down pc (switch off). powercylce printer after pc shut down. then power up pc, printer will reinstall.

i presume you have installed the drivers from the printer's cd?

yes i did and from the hp site. I tried removing it from devices but still freezes the pc. If i may ask how does it work with other usernames on the same pc. but not with the one it should. the one it always worked with?

Out of interest, are you running SP1?

Upgrade to XP .

running sp1 and was when i got the printer. i would upgrade to xp but boss wants vista on that machine so stuck there a lil
