'Mourners' helped themselves

Deneysville - Charges of theft are being investigated against nine Correctional Services employees in Kroonstad after they allegedly helped themselves to a few bottles from a liquor store after a memorial service.
The theft apparently was recorded on the bottle store's CCTV. The footage is being used to identify the thieves.
The theft apparently took place on July 24 when a bus took DCS employees from Kroonstad to Groenpunt Prison in Deneysville for a memorial service.
Police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng said that on the way back to Kroonstad, the bus apparently stopped at a bottle store and about 10 uniformed employees went into the shop.
One employee took a bottle of brandy and paid for it with his credit card.
According to the shop owner - and the video footage - the others then all took bottles from the shelves and walked out without paying.
Puleng Mokhoane, DCS spokesperson for the Northern Cape and Free State, said she had no knowledge of the alleged theft or the police investigation.
She said the report was never put through to the provincial office. "
Their inmates must be proud
If I remember correctly I've been through Deneysville a few times, it's like a 1 horse town.
