Former Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter said the utility will always have a role in South Africa's electricity sector – but a far smaller one than it has in the past.

Andre, as usual is deur die k@k. The private sector will never replace Eskom. Firstly, they are not like Eskom operating on bailouts. They need money to produce and then sell electricity. People in SA are getting poorer and cannot afford electricity anymore. So, either the private sector will do this free or it will never happen.

They are doing it for free. They will invest in Eskom and get no equity or return. According to our ministers.
