Exactly. If the Industry has done the math and they are doing the same, then their smart accountants have seen that having their own solar is a good financial move.

It's a fork in the road IMO.

Appease those who've spend hundreds of thousands in solar and batteries, by hiking the per-kWh cost, pissing off the majority who cannot afford solar and batteries, or,
Lower the per-kWh cost to <R1 and offer relief to the majority who cannot afford solar/batteries, pissing off those who've spent thousands on the latter.

The lower per-kWh cost will potentially result in a larger uptake of EVs, for example. One EV = 3 150L geysers, in terms of electricity cost.
