Hi there I am considering to do Trans PRK, who has been through this procedure. Please tell us how did it go. I favor trans PRK or just PRK instead of normal LASIK procedure because of some reasons other than flap complications. I am based in Durban.

Hi

I had PRK done July 2014, went very quick, 2-3min per eye. Was about R16k for everything

Recovery, took me about 3-4months to see 20/20 again.

Within the first month or two, you will have blurry/dubble vision but very minor.

How is it feeling now, I will pick PRK over any refractive surgery. I'll rather have bad vision for 4 months instead of doing LASIK, what LASIK do to the cornea is irreversible!

Did you ever get it done? I am going in on Friday - and I am as nervous as heck!

Going to Dr Wesserman in Durban - anyone been to him?

I Had eye surgery done in October last year - I opted for the SMILE procedure that was done at Optimed Eye Clinic in Pretoria by Dr. Frik Potgieter. If you are concerned about the flap with LASIK, you should have a look at this option. The technology involved with this is just mind boggling. So worth it.

I've been to him twice and I wanted to have a procedure there, but I opted not to continue because he could not offer me exactly what wanted and I couldn't get the reasons. I do not know what I will do now because it will cause great inconvenience to have a procedure outside KZN and I do not have many options.

So how did it go with Dr Wesserman? I went to consult with him and he told me I do not qualify for lasik so I have to do PRK. I'm considering it but now looking for good references.

How much was the SMILE?

Just over R30k if I remember correctly.

I had prk laser surgery done last month 7th April by Dr Anderson here in durban. My left eye was -0.5, right eye was -2.75. Have around -3.5 of astigmatism
Both eyes. Right now my left eye seems to be completely healed and right eye is still busy healing(still blurry but better then before surgery). They did say prk will take around 3 to 6 months to fully heal so who knows. Let's wait and see. But so far I am very happy with the results
