Hi Guys

I have a question. I am looking to finally take the plunge from PS2 to XBOX. From what I understand, it will be a pleasurable plunge.:D

But I need some help here. Other than the harddrive size difference (and price diff), what is the difference between the PRO and the Elite?

And is the Harddrive of the Pro upgradable? ( does it use a very specific harddrive, what if I have a xternal hardrive?)

Cant wait to get busy xboxing:D

It will be a most excellent experience ;)

That is the only really significant difference between the two, 100Gb. There's little things like, it's black, and comes with an HDMI cable in the box (both come with HiDef Component cables anyway) But for the South African market, where you aren't downlaoding a lot of stuff, just things like Arcade games, the occasion DLC pack and the odd demo or two, the 20Gb pro is ample.

Best price I've seen is at Kalahari.NET, the pros are currently R2800, as you're in Cape Town you can collect from their offices at N1 City. (Or if you want to wait, I think delivery is free)

Any idea what games you're looking for? You going to be joining us on live? :D

Thanks doobiwan

Dumb question maybe, but Im not the best at all the techy bits... Whats the HDMI cable for? :o
The hard drive, is it 20Gb and thats it, or can you add a portable harddrive to it...if you would've wanted to...

I like my FPS's and the odd racing and sport game...

Dont know about live yet... Xbox 1st... Baby step here... But eventually, hellyes...! :D

I bought a Pro with HDMI port and the cable seperatly when I needed it ... cheapest HDMI I found was R150.00 just FYI.

Exactly what they said ;)

The included cable in the pro can still do hiDef, it's just a matter of how you want to connect. The pro now also has the port should you decide to switch later, but I really don't see a need for it.

On the Harddrive, the drive size is fixed, but it doesn't limit you ;) The Xbox harddrive is purely for Xbox content. If you want to play music, or movies through the 360 (it supports MP3's wmvs and MP4/Divx) you can use pretty much any external USB device like a memory stick or Hard drive, or alternatively there are a number of ways to connect it directly to a PC and stream stuff over a network.

Doobiwan,

Thanx, that answers my question and is exactly what I wanted to know as I have a portable hard drive with music and stuff on it.

Now just to flog my PS2....:D

yep agreed the 20GB is more than enough for demos (anywhere between 500MB to 1.5GB) and then the odd downloadable content for your games which can be a few MB to a few hundred MB.

If you are lucky enough to get a 30GB local account which becomes an "international " account you can get game movies and loads of demos and fill up the 20GB pretty quick.

But for now its baby steps like you said.

tested out the HDMI and the component cables on my HDTV and it's virtually the same. Not a huge difference. it really depends if your TV takes HDMI or not.
