Thanks ProAsm.

Is it possible that one sector on the tower is slow while the others are normal?

I was online and all was good and then for some reason the tower felt the need to disconnect me. It was all good on 2506 but now on 2518 (like all day) it sucks again.

Why does it drop you mid connection to switch sectors?

I get 20% at 2518 and 15% at 2506

Heya greedyfly,

You answered your own question "I get 20% at 2518 and 15% at 2506"... The modem logs onto the strongest signal - NOT neccesarily the best signal.

As to the question of WHY you're getting disconnected in the 1st place ... good luck. I've been asing the same question for 6 days and it's like EVERYONE has selective hearing concerning this. It's far easier for everyone to just fall back to the standard awnsers relating to signal strength and distance from towers...

I have the extact date and time of my disconnections and re-associations with incorrect towers and I'm trying to get the disconnect logs from Sentech - It's like puliing dragons teeth - you get burnt and don't really get anything for it.... I guess they're a tad pre-occupied with other matters ...

Oh well, I'll try chase them down again in the morning.

Cheers

R

I used to work for Bop TV some time back and I remember an incident where a microwave link between the Lost City at Sun City (million dollar golf tournament) and the tower on top the hill where the transmitters were housed caused severe interference to our program feeds on C-band...wiped out our programs completely [;)]...makes you wonder what type of bandwidth these links are using.
