I can categorially state that there's JACK wrong with that tower: I've got a site in Honeydew that shouts across the intervening valleys through a (reflashed, at that!) router and (1) they're WAY quick to bleat at me about no connection when it goes down ..which, FTR I can't recall the last time I heard of it happening.. and (b) I've been in email and MSN contact with that client this morning (going there today for entirely different reasons).

Don't take their nonsense, and try to get Franscois or Tristan - they at least can be reasoned with/actually think for themselves instead of just parroting a hell-desk script.

Same problem here, same tower.

Phoned NoWire, and got the same 'Please power down your router for 5 minutes' bull.

Told the helpdesk chappie that the modem was connected to an IPCop box, and he told me, sorry, they don't support Linux.

I then told him I get the same problem when I plug the modem directly into my laptop, and the genius replied that because I HAD BEEN using it in conjunction with a linux box previously, he was unable to support me.

*sigh*

I can connect now, but international speeds are crawling. def something wrong somewhere. Local speed tests are fine, getting 25Kb/s. But cant even browse google, gmail not found...

Sentech, FIX IT!

This is why you put on your "LAD hat" (imdb.com, quote by character Jimmy Shaker) and don't mention any.damn.thing that you may be doing that's remotely out of the ordinary/(so called) "supported".

I mean, let's face it: I can see why they have to "officially" take the position of not supporting anything but the basic modem-connected straight to (a single, (Windows, preferably XP)) PC but when you DO confirm that the problem exists in both your 'exotic/homebrew/alternate' setup and the one they do support and they STILL refuse to support you, the paying customer, that's just going beyond the pale!

Sometimes you get lucky and get someone that:
(1)can think for themself
(b)knows how to deal with your Linux/router solution and
(iii)is willing to take the time/chance to actually help you .. sadly this is all too rare.
