Ran the patch and got an error.
" The update could not be applied.
The file "\pc-game-hdfiles\WowError.exe" could not be opened. If this problem persists, you may be able to solve it by uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. If you are unable to correct this problem, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (InstallerFile::Open)
To check this installation for problems, click the "Repair" button. The Repair tool can automatically fix many update errors. "

Now when i click the repair button it does nothing, but when I go to task manager it shows repair is running!

Ideas?:(

Also I think the patch is called 3.2.0a an not 3.2.0.1 just to make that clear.

I had this wierd problem, after login it would download part of patch, click restart and nada...

So downloaded the patch quick quick from wowwiki mirror and tada.

Just kept clicking repair and restarting a few times. Problem fixed itself.
But I have to repair after each and every patch. Ive re-installed the game twice and it still keeps giving me the same error telling me to repair or re-install:(
Anyone else having this problem?

I've never had this problem actually. It might be the cause of a bigger unknown problem on your system that you are not even aware of.

Might be, and probably but how would i get it wrong on 2 different pc's both runnin XP SP2 and a laptop running Vista?:(
All three with different hardware and setups. I've defragged, disk cleaned, formatted, re-installed...just about all the basics and its the same story every feking time.

Check your Anti-virus software. I was running Nod32 and it REFUSED to allow the patch to overwrite the wow.exe file with the updated one previous patch.

In your case the AV is most likely detecting the patching application is trying to launch an .exe file.

Maybe do a new install using someone else's working version of the game? Best probably would to download all the old patches again, but this may take ages ;)
Could be a corrupt old installation file you still have?

two of the 3 pc's dont even have anti virus software, not a big believr in them tbh. I stay off sites and away from files that arent safe.

I have 2 sets of all disks, and you can now run installation for all 3 off the WOTL dvd. if its an installation file it would be fixed by a re-install or the repair tool right? Then howcome I still have to repair every time?:( There still local servers/sites hosting all the game updates?

what os do you use?

if you run windows 7 or vista, you must run the patch updator as administrator

Nod 32 stuffed my install up as well, had to do the whole reinstall etc etc ... what a pain

Honestly, I never ever have problems upgrading. Which is probably why I can't exactly help you to your case. But I can tell you this.

1. Anti-Virus is very NB on any Windows based system. I can't tell you how many times I have had people's USB sticks ect in my pc, and my AV warned me about virus's after they were removed, this same people also do not believe in AV scanners...

2. This is both on Windows XP 32bit, 64bit and Vista 64bit. I have actually patched WoW in Linux without these wierd problems.

So if it is not the hardware, it has to be a pebkac.
