Problem using external mic in Samsung S5 mini

Hi all

I'm trying to use an external mic in Samsung S5 mini to record sound so I can later layer it over video but it keeps recognizing it as headphones instead. I know there's something you can get overseas - an adapter basically that you plug the mic into then plug the adapter into the phone, but is there anything local, or a workaround I can use?

Not the right place to post this but heres your problem
Your mic has to have the compatible jack for mic/headphone like as in a hands free device.


one on left is for head phone the one on the right is for head phone with in line mic.

if you handy with a soldering iron then you can make up one rather easily.
