Hi Guys,
I am having the weirdest problems and not sure if anyone here can help but I just thought I would put it out there :)
I am able to use bittorrent to download stuff via my DG834G netgear modem, but I can't get mozilla/firefox/ie to connect to the internet or even to the modem. I can also ping external sites as well as the modem. I have checked the firewall and all seems fine. The browsers do not seem to be even getting to the firewall. Anyone know if I can somehow track what the program/browser is doing and figure out what is actually stopping it from getting to the modem/anywhere :)

thanx guys

just a shot in the dark, but have you checked whether mozilla/ie have any proxy servers specified within their configuration settings? thats the only thing that comes to mind ATM...

check your proxy settings and your hosts file. Can you get to the routers admin page in your browser? (http:\\192.168.1.1 usually)?

nothing set for the proxy and no .. I cannot get to my routers admin page, which is why I am so baffled. I have looked at pretty much all the usual suspects but nothing helps.
Which is why I am looking for a program that mayb will b able to tell me what exactly the browser is trying to do and where it is getting blocked.

Type in "ipconfig /all" in the command line and post the results here.

Are your two DNS servers configured properly ???.

make sure your actually connected
tpy in netstat in the cmd line aswell

I got rid of the firewalls and the one on the modem/router is set to the default so that should not be the prob. I have checked and the DNS servers are set correctly ... if not ... bittorrent would not even work :) .
will try the suggests and will post results.
thanx guys.
