Curious if anyone else experiences this... I like capitec for the most part, they are miles ahead of the other major banks in service and pricing. However, their cards seem to be of the poorest quality. My last one hardly lasted two years before it was malfunctioning at store point of sale machines. It had another 3 years before expiry. I got it replaced, but now not two years down the line and this card is also starting to malfunction in chip readers. Supposed to last until 2020 - no way that is happening. My other credit cards take the same abuse and last without issue until expiry.

Interesting, I've had two cards snap in exactly the same spot, my wallet probably plays a role, but my other cards haven't snapped despite getting the same treatment.

My current card is doing ok, but the chip looks a bit rusted :wtf: and the card readers at PnP seem to struggle with it while they handle my other cards fine.

So yeah, sadly I also think Capitec's cards are of inferior quality.

My card still looks like it did the day I got it, which was probably around 2 years ago. Maybe stop mistreating them?

Har har. Gets used every day as I have an aversion to cash. I often leave my wallet in the car and just take my Capitec card with me if I don't anticipate needing any loyalty cards.

The worst cards I've ever seen are the Investec ones. My step-dad and mom bank with them and theirs totally fall to pieces after a few months.

they definitely rolling in it then! lol

My one puppy placed a tooth mark in my 18 month old or 2 year old card and it still works like a charm

My first card did just fine for 2 or so years before it got stolen, my second card started to peal at the edges though I expect it was that specific wallet and it still lasted till expiry, I'm on my third now and it's so far not showing any signs of ware.
