Problem With Data Usage?

Hey guys

I'm here because of a certain problem with my data bundles. I forgot on which contract I am but if the info is needed then I'll post it. Anyway I get R235 per month and use it in the following ways:
•Buy BIS
•Buy 1.5 GB data

So here's my problem: I've been using 2 apps since the beginning of the year. The 2 apps are JMIRC (a irc chat app) and Mango (A comic reader of sorts). Never before did I have to use data to use the two apps but recently if I don't have any data then they don't work?

Both of them has settings for connections like TCP, Wap, Wifi etc. Both is one wap. I bought 1 gb data yesterday and a day later I only have 970 mb left? Never before had they taken data why now???? Should I change the connection settings?
