Hi

I have an LG dvd player with surround sound that I use to play my TV's sound through - Just lately the sound has been going on & off & I have noticed on the display it keeps skipping from Aux to Mic - have tried unplugging it from the wall & leaving off for a while but it happens again after about 10 mins - now I'm stuck listening to the sound through the TV instead which is awful

Can anyone help or will I have to shell out for a new one?

Just to ensure I got this : The display on the Amplifier/DVD player displays "AUX" and after 10 minutes go to "MIC"?

Is the input selecter a turn type or a push button? - i.e to intentionally change from DVD to AUX do you have turn a knob, or push a button?

And if possible : Component System Model Number... maybe we can figure something out..

Okay sorry will have to go & look at the model number - I have an aux cable running from the front of the DVD into to aux in the back of my samsung television - the other cable runs from the back of the DVD into my DVD recorder - it has been working fine for over a year but over the weekend would start losing audio it's then when I noticed the display on the front goes from portable (which is from the TV to the dvd) to mic (microphone?) and now it's doing it every couple of seconds making it impossible to listen through the surround sound - any thoughts please
I use the remote control to change from dvd to aux to portable

Does it auto-sense connections plugged into Aux and Mic?

On the actual receiver, is the input selector a knob or is it a button? Your symptom is very common in knob-selectors when the internal boards get dirty or hot...

Open it up, void your warranty, take a cold hair-dryer to it and ensure that you have enough ventilation. That's what I did with my ancient Sansui and it works fine, after 12 years. Still returns once in a blue moon but a quick, cold blow-dry sorts it out...

Indeed, with analogue type switches you have moisture and dirt clumping and shorting causing what you describe

Remove the remote batteries and see if it still happens.

Accut dry contact cleaners R65 from Diesel electric. (spray can)

Spanjaard also make a similar can. Midas/ auto zone stock it. Sparky have cottoned on to the spray.
