I’m a PC Tec giving support to a company with ADSL with a Marconi Router and Xsinet as their service provider. Over the last couple of months they seem to have endless problem sending out mail through isdsl smtp and both Telkom and Xsinet claims they have not heard of any of their other customers having a similar problem so I thought it had something to do with the internal network and have tried replacing the switch and some network cards but no luck so far. If the person truing to send the email shuts down their PC and restart it, the email goes out when opening Outlook or outlook express without a problem.

I’m house sitting for someone who has ADSL and have my PC connected to it through a local service provider who also uses isdsl for outgoing mail and I’m experiencing the same problem which indicates that it must be something to do with isdsl. Is anyone else who uses isdsl having the same problem?

sounds like the mis-settings of Outlook/Outlook Express, can you try other email client, say Thunderbird

Can't see that it could be a setting if it has been working fine for over a year on the existing settings for the 6 people who has been using it at the office and all of them having the problem now and not before.

I had the same problem, and I changed the SMTP settings to "SMTP.saix.net" for ADSL connection and this solved my problem. For dialup connection, I use "SMTP.xsinet.co.za" and this works also.
