Problem with my cable modem

am new to this forum and I've tried reading other posts but I hope someone may be able to help me. I have a 3Com CMX Cable Modem. I'm online and for about 2 minuts everything stops and I cant connect online and then after the minute is up Had the cable company out a couple times company said everything seemed ok and replaced the modem. Here's what it does when it goes down:
2007-03-28 15:32:28 3-Critical 0x04E33A74 Started Unicast Maintenance Ranging - No Response received - T3 time-out

Here's the signal strengths when normal:

Downstream Value Frequency 117000000 Hz Locked
Signal to Noise Ratio 28 dB
Power Level -5 dB The Downstream Power Level reading is a snapshot taken at the time this page was requested. Please Reload/Refresh this Page for a new reading

Upstream Value
Channel ID 19
Frequency 32000000 Hz Ranged
Power Level 64 dBmV

Here's my signal levels when it is actively crashing:

Downstream Value
Frequency 117000000 Hz Locked
Signal to Noise Ratio 36 dB
Power Level -6 dB The Downstream Power Level reading is a snapshot taken at the time this page was requested. Please Reload/Refresh this Page for a new reading


Any help will be appreciated.
 
He's bound to be in America, they've gots oodles and oodles of cable modems there.

Not in South Africa... yet... :D

Sorry dude you are on the wrong forum. Here in SA we are so deprived of Internet and any form of decency with our useless government that we lack the knowledge to help you with what seems to be commonplace in your area.

Mind you we still have some clued up people around here :) maybe someone out there can help

I dealt with some security estate setup who are using cable to feed the DStv and Internet signal to the houses within the estate.

They are having a lot of trouble with interference between the two signals running on the same cable. Most of the time the cable is not grounded properly which leads to this type of scenario.

At first the ISP within the estate did not allow the residents to opt for ADSL, but it turned out that so many people were having problems like these with their cable setup, that they had to change that rule.

Wrong place. Sorry bud. This is the stone age. We don't have internet in good ol' SA. :p No seriously here we have 512kb narrowband that is cutting edge technology.
