Hi,
Lucky me has received a new Dell Latitude E6410 laptop with Win7 64bit :)
Problem I have is with the quotation key.
If I press shift quotation, I get nothing, pressing it a second time, gives me two quotation marks in succession.
Anybody know what I need to do to get it fixed?
It is annoying the living crap out of me.

Thanks

P.S. Quotation marks is these things " " " " " " "

  1. Try an external keyboard and see if you get the same problem
  2. Run the keyboard diagnostic test, instructions should be in the windows help file
  3. Contact Dell support telephonically or via chat, they will quide your through a process and send a tech to replace keyboard/mobo/entire laptop

Interesting - i have exactly the same problem on my Lenovo PC (win 7 32bit). I always assumed it was just my crappy no-name keyboard, but maybe not ...

I've seen this before, will rack my brain to remember the fix...

I'm sure it's a keyboard/regional setting though.

Another interesting thing is this...
If I press the quotation key and then any other key after that, the " does come up? Weird....

Glad to know I am not the only one, thanks.

Give this a go:

i had the same problem... and searched everywhere for a solution. well, i finally figured it out myself so i thought i'd post a solution to the first link in my google search on this topic...

my keyboard was set to US English International... the idea being if i hit the quote key once i could press another key to get accents on the letters...

i fixed this by going into
- control panel
- regional and language options
- languages tab
- details button

under the keyboard setting i removed the international item and kept the us item. logged off and back on again and my keyboard quotes works normally again...

When I got my laptop it did the same thing turns out I just had to change layout region to US Standard.
