We purchased a used vehicle (Honda) from NTT VW Stellenbosch back in May this year and took delivery on 1 June.
When we fetched the vehicle we found that the left side mirror wasn't working and a trim piece on the boot lid was loose and hanging by 1 clip - probably caused by the panel beaters when it went in for touch ups. The salesperson said it's not a problem and we should just take the vehicle to Honda to get it sorted and they'll reimburse us.
Took the vehicle in to Honda to get the mirror fixed (costed ~R800) and they sent the invoice to NTT VW who confirmed receipt via email (7 June) and that we'd get a refund in 2-3 working days. For the boot trim, Honda found that the entire trim needed to be replaced as the part the clip/s goes into was broken. We opted to just get a quote as it was a quite a bit more (~R1800) and would wait for NTT VW to pay for this repair directly.
A few weeks later (15 August) and we still haven't received any response from the dealership. The salesperson is on leave so we sent an email to the manager who says he isn't aware of any repairs that needed to be done and he'll chat to the salesperson when he gets in the next day.
A week goes by and still no response so we follow up again about the outstanding repair and the reimbursement to fix the mirror. The manager then says he finds it ridiculous to have to pay R1800 for the boot trim when they can repair it and we should bring the vehicle in for an inspection.
Any advice on how we can take this further and ensure we get reimbursed? I'll be taking the vehicle to them today but I suspect they'll want to just glue/stick the trim to the body to avoid replacing it, is this really acceptable or can I insist on the trim being replaced?
