Problem with patching

Hi,

I got to 37% downloaded of the patch at home but decided that since my interenet connection is so useless I would stop it, move my computer to my friends house and finish it there.

I was told that if you click cancel, it just pauses the download and you can start it again. But now WAR wont start and gives the following error:

The patch client was unable to retrieve the file [patcher-goa.prod.sig] from the patch server. Please try the patch operation again in a short while.
-------------

Does anyone know if this is because I have moved my computer, which would mean new ip address etc? I tried quite a few times this morning and am still getting this error. Ive mailed support but havn't yet heard anything back.

I really dont want to have to uninstall and start again if possible.

edit: ive googled it and have a few options to try like deleting the warpatch.bin file or editing my lmhosts file to enter a different server. Ill give that a try and post whether or not it works.

I had that as well

Its a case of not connecting to the server. Restart your router/internet connection and try again.

The patch doesnt stop and restart from scratch. It reduces the size of the overall patch needed to be downloaded
 
Ok cool thanks. Ill check my port forwarding settings on the router too since there may be a problem there.
 
Was that today? If so, GOA (they run the EU servers) are having problems.

Good morning,

these current connection errors are caused by a European internet infrastructure problem. The situation is as follows: a major connection between Paris and London is currently severed. GOA are but one of many who are affected by this, with the result that a large part of our players can currently not access the patcher or our website.

We are in direct contact with our ISP, French Telecom, urging them to resolve this as soon as possible. Naturally, this is a very serious problem and they are diverting all technical resources needed to meet this.

no problems with WoW PTR patches this morning, and they are on the "European internet infrastructure" as well. :D

Tiscali, I believe. Might be wrong.

I think a lot of problems MMO's have are due to the ISP at their end. Either some nob decides to do maintenence without due process, or some other foul up.

Although in the UK we recently had people on NTL have problems and before that Virgin. Im on Sky myself.

Most likely. Just take note WoW has servers across europe, some are in France, others UK etc. I remember reading somewhere all WAR servers are based in France
 
Ok, it's working again. I checked my router / internet settings and rebooted everything just in case and all seems fine now.
