I have 2 x Transcend 1333Mhz 2GB DIMMs (JM1333KLU-2G ) in my system. Some of you might recall I was having issues with my system freezing, well I downlocked the RAM to 1066 and it is rock stable now. Now the issue is, how do I determine if the RAM is faulty if RAM tests other than the fact the system is resetting all other memory testers report no problems.

when you clock the ram up to 1333, do you up the voltages at all? usually they need a little bump up. My 1066 had to be put up from 1.8v to 2.1v to run stable.

Well what I have encountered was RAM thats BIOS was to report it was faster than its true architecture. Also you need to consult your mainboards documentation to see if it is compatible with this RAM at the higher bus speed.

How risky is that? I mean does RAM have the same sort of thermal/over voltage protection that your cpu has or will it just melt in the socket?
