SO I know quite a few people on here have the same TV as me, the PS50C430. But last night (barely 1 month out of warranty - I know, FML) my TV broke.

I was playing some Xbox connected via the component input (not sure if thats relevant), but as soon as I switched off my xbox I heard a loud POP noise and the TV went off...then I could hear a relay clicking in the background.

Now the TV doesn't switch on. When I plug in the power cable the relay clicks about 5 times then stops, and the TV stays off. It still registers activity from the remote control, but without any picture.

I took off the back cover looking for any obvious blown caps or components and couldn't see anything.

Has anyone had this issue? Any tips, suggestions? Pleeeeeeeaaase, I freaken love this tv, I want it back!

I would've first tried Samsung before opening it, I've heard of manufacturers fixing their devices for free if the warranty had just run out. Did you break any seals etc. while opening it?

Good TV though, have the same one.

Sent from a Noteworthy Galaxy :D

Nah dude, no seals, leave no evidence (ala). But still, I doubt they'll repair it for free.

Hope your TV doesn't suffer the same fate as mine bro. I'll keep you updated, taking it in for repairs this afternoon.

I forgot the name of the company that seemed to be the 'better' warranty repair agent. Might be best contacting Samsung and asking about them, and taking it to one of their companies who fix their TVs.

Don't have much experience with out of warranty TVs breaking. :( Sorry.

yeah take it into a samsung repair centre, the one near me was fantastic, run by a company called darrow trading if i recall

Samsung agent in dbn charge R450 for the quote  Whether you accept or not. Damn, wish I had the schematic myself.

/shoulda bought the lg

Alternatively drop the TV and say it fell off the wall or stand. Claim from insurance. (flame suit on!)

Loooooooooool :D, yeah, not too keen on insurance fraud tbh. With my luck at the moment things just wont work out.

There are reputable TV repairmen that can do the same job as the Samsung agents. I can refer you to one in the Durban area.

Yeah dude please, PM me with that info.

Especially if you've had good success with any of them and they dont charge an arm and leg.
