I have OpenServe fiber, Axxess, and a fixed IP. Behind this I run a NATted linux box web/mail/etc server. This has been running for years and I am in general happy with the service.
Friday afternoon I could no longer connect to <static IP>.:25. Looked at all my settings, called tech support, blah blah blah. No joy.
Narrowed it down to: If I open telnet as a service on the Mikrotik, I can telnet <static IP>:23. OK. If I then move telnet to port 25, I can NOT telnet <static IP>:25.
nmap <static IP> gives
PORT STATE SERVICE
21/tcp open ftp
22/tcp open ssh
25/tcp filtered smtp
Ended up replacing the Mikrotik with a new unit I had lying around, just because it's the last thing under my control. The next box in the line is a Nokia ethernet-to-fiber thing that I suspect belongs to OpenServe.
So now I am trying to get hold of someone at Axxess to help me troubleshoot this. The first-level techs speak to the higher-level techs via Teams or some such, the higher-level techs say "we don't block ports", finish en klaar.
So here I am with my finger up my arse.
Any ideas, anyone?

Please note that our NOC/Tier 3 does not make or receive calls we and it is as stated below that we do not block ports
