Not sure if I'm in the correct section but anyhow. I need some assistance from the techno peeps. In short my TV is not responding to the remote control. I sent it in to be repaired and they've informed me (after going back 3 times) that the remote is pushing out a frequency higher than what the TV can pick up, therfore buy a new remote.

Is this even possible? I'm no expert but it sounds unlikely. Am I being conned? The retailer seems to want to shift the problem to the remote which is not covered under warranty as they cannot figure out what the problem is.

Where do they come up with the crap? I'm assuming its infrared and not some fancy bluetooth TV.

The IR works off pulses - I seriously doubt the remote is pushing out a too higher frequency of pulses.

Way sure what to check if you use your phone if it has IR and get a TV remote control app. If it still doesnt work then its not the remote.

I think they're trying to weasel their way out of repairing the TV because they don't know what the problem is. It is extremely frustrating as a technologically inclined individual to hear such things being said.

It is a normal IR remote so I agree the story about frequencies is probably nonsense. I tried a remote control app but it does not pick up my TV for some reason, it is a JVC so I assume I would struggle to get an app that works with it. I've requested the job cards from them through my legal advisor so we'll see how far that gets me.
