Problem with very slow international speeds

I Cannot believe telkoms uselessness because I am
on a 1mb line and during night time I am getting full
speeds but during the day I getting piss poor speeds around 0.10 - 0.15
and Telkom consultant has nerve to ask me what do you
suggest that I do when he knows that I am having these situations
how ****ing dumb is he. The strange thing is I am having full speed
with different adsl accounts at night but slow speeds during the day.

Please somebody tell me what I should I do so I can
have pure Internet joy just like most of you are having.

Sounds like you might be experiencing congestion at your exchange. What internet package (data) are you on? Is it capped or uncapped and is it with Telkom?

sorry for the late reply

I am on a Telkom 1mb uncapped package
and how do I check if my exchange is congested.

You do know that Telkom throttles their uncapped based on a schedule?

http://www.do.co.za/broadband/offerings/telkom-internet-plans/uncapped/do-uncapped-up-to-1mbps/

Speed Restrictions
6am - 6pm: up to 472 kbps
6pm - 10pm: up to 767 kbps
10pm - 6am: up to 1 Mbps
No restriction on local data

To check that the problem is not related to your line then get yourself a small capped account from another provider (e.g. OpenWeb, WebAfrica) and compare the speeds to your uncapped account. If the speeds aren't a problem on the capped account then it's most likely just the throttling you are experiencing however if you still struggle with slow speeds on this account then the problem most likely lies elsewhere.

To do a quick test to check if your exchange might be congested then run a traceroute and post the results here. To do this in Windows, just open up the command prompt and then type the following command:

Code:
tracert telkom.co.za

Then copy and paste the result here.
