Hi there!

There is a problem with some of my users when they copy files across to a shared folder on our server, I'm not sure if it is a hardware or software related problem
What is happening is this:

When they try and copy a file into the share the dialog box that windows opens up to show you how long it will take to copy just stays open and does not close, when they try and close it manually the program doesn’t respond then eventually explorer.exe crashes
The box stays open for long(hours and hours), and the files being copied over are not even 40mb (excel & word files mostly)
Ive tried running scans, resetting the mapped drive, we also have had their access removed and restored, the one users laptop was reloaded too.
All laptops are clean from viruses from the scans that I completed, I also ran a defrag on each machine today, and the problem is still there
Have you ever seen something like this happen before ?
Could I try delete the folder and create a new one?
Or is there anything else I can try ?

I installed Terracopy and that seems to be working fine for now until I can find a solution.
There are 5 users connected to the share - 3 with Windows 7 and 2 with XP
Network is a domain

What OS is the system sharing the files running on?

Are they all connected at 100Mbps. Open up task manager and view network when the file is copied. They should be using more or less 100% of the network.

Whats the performance like on the file server? When did the problems first start? What's the OS of the client and server?
