I wonder if anyone knows what is really going on at Afrihost. The last 2 days I cannot send e-mail via Thunderbird and all I get is a local temporary problem. This error I have been receiving since Feb but was always temporary and now it's permanent.

Not getting much luck from support after I have reported the problem.

This is now after all the dead network problems of the past few weeks doing anything on the internet.

Seems like a change in ISP would be the only solution.

I see customers voted Afrihost quite badly and now nearly last of ZA ISP's and that from the top spot to number 8

My wife's work was using Afrihost's SMTP server for sending mail and it stopped working for them too.
I think they've cocked something up really badly.

uh-huh.

The helpdesk's fix was to configure the outlook clients to send via the company's hetzner hosted server, instead of the ISP mail host.

They should have had a secondary SMTP server in place and simply changed their DNS to point to the second server, Problem solved. But alas, let's have everybody contact support individually.

My connection was off for 3 days. The re-setup of the router did the trick, but still I agree with the level of support. It is non existing.

I am now waiting more than 48hrs to get a reply on one incident and more than 16hrs on another.

Getting support from Afrihost is like playing the lotto.

Doesn't matter what the following they say

Seems like each time Afrihost gets a lot of new clients the supports drop to zero. I had the same a few years ago and left to another ISP for 2 years and when I moved back the support was quite good. Now it's back to 48 hours if at all. 48 hours is a long time in towards world if one can open a new account with an ISP in 15 minutes.

The 16hrs incident is actually to try and upgrade my line. This has become now nearly 48hrs.
The other incident is now getting to 72hrs

Seems Afrihost has no more staff to give support.
It is now 72 hrs to upgrade the line and 102 hrs for support.

Really sorry about only jumping in here now :( While all us reps do our best to monitor every thread - we're always on the official feedback threads or PM. That's generally the best way to get our attention :)

I know we did see some SMTP issues, these are definitely resolved now though. Could you PM me your details if you're still having troubles with this?

What is this guy's name? Afriman.....
He/She is also missing in action.

Sorry we haven't attended to this, it's usually best to just PM us directly or jump on one of the official feedback threads :)
A line upgrade definitely shouldn't take that long, it's usually a 48 hours process - max.

Please PM me your line number so I can run some checks.
