Hi all,

We have been having slow speeds on internet for about a Month now, we have 1MB uncapped ADSL via IS. When i confronted IS we eventually tracked the prooblem to the line syncing at 512kb. Logged a fault at Telkom (the most useless bunch in the world, as we all know) on the 7th November, I am phoning them daily to find out, only too get the same old excuse. There is something wrong at local exchange, in essence there is way to much traffic for the DSLams and hence my supposed 4Mb line is syncing at 512kb. OK now the problem is noted, when is it getting fixed? Nobody seems to know. Yesterday someone said it seems to be in Feb only!!! We are in a business park in Steenberg Tokai areas, and I am looking to find people in the area with simular problems, and i know there are a few, so that we can go beat down on Telkom in some way that they might actually try and do something.

The line sync speed has nothing to do with how overloaded the exchange is. Either Telkom thinks you are on a 512 package or there are errors on the line and it cant sync higher. Rather than reporting "slow", report the fault as your line syncing at 512 instead of 4meg.

Does the IS Business ADSL offer anything more than 1 meg, even if you line runs at 4, IS may limit it to 1?
