I had a problem connecting with a Samsung Z400. I have one phone working and another that does not. Gives a 713 error after the message "registering computer on network"

Anyone know how to check what firmware version is installed on these phones?

Vodafone Live?

Do you have the Vodafone Live edition of the Z400? what is your SW version. I have one and mine is working fine.

Problem solved. Took it to Vodacare to fix. The first time it came back with the same problem. Second time I told them to prove that it works before they send it back to me. They called and stated that I need to put in the initialization string in the advanced modem settings. Like I did not try that already! They then wanted to charge my client R162 for the job. He refused. I got the phone and it worked. No initialization string was required. They also offered to come and put the initialization string in for us for R280. What a laugh.

Wrong!

There was obviously something wrong with this phone.

Corrective action:
1. Vodacom must test all phones for modem use.
2. Vodacom should not try and extort money from poor clients. Yes, yes.... they probably don’t even realize that that is what they were trying to do, but I am stating client perception here.

Probably just one bad employee, trying to take a chance....

-No. It was not an init string.
-Dont know if they updated the firmware. Remember that another Z400 worked with the same firmware.
-Would like to know what they did too. What they told me is that the init string did the trick. It definately did not. It just worked after I got it back the 2nd time.

We need to find out, if they can't tell you, mail me te contact details and I'll chase them up.

Can you pinpoint a time it started working? I can try and check network activities at the same time, but it's a long shot....
