Problems logging in

fix

FiX for last time

The problem is that for whatever reason, Telkom DNS not resolving anything at .worldofwarcraft.com

So, add this line to your windows hosts file, and you can play.

Start, Run (shortcut Win+R):
notepad c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Then add this line to the bottom:

For EU:
80.239.180.112 eu.logon.worldofwarcraft.com

For US:
12.129.224.116 us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com

Save the file, then wow should be able to logon.

Be sure to undo this once DNS servers are fixed, or WoW may randomly stop being able to logon one day.

EDIT:
Above works fine in XP, but Vista won't let you save the file in notepad, here is the workaround:

- Find notepad on the start menu, right click it, then select "Run as Administrator".
- File, Open: c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
- Add the lines as above for your region
- Save the file

Should work

A friend of mine was experiencing the same problem from today. He gave telkom a call and they said that you he is using a shaped account and that they can block whatever they want.

This doesn't make any sense at all since i don't see what having a shaped account has got to do with blocking certain ip addresses but maybe it was just another telkom employee that doesnt know what they are talking about?

Yes they are useless employees there.

Tell your friend, or if you are getting the same problem, to follow the info. posted above by me.

Done that and playing now.
