I have a 4mb ADSL line and and Afrihost Uncapped account. In the past we were able to have 4 people play the exact same game at the same time on the same line.

Now when 2 of us play CSGO on a local server at the same time we get like 60% packet loss and 600 ping. If one of us quite, then the other's game 100% fine. So one person can play fine, 2 people can't at all.

So thinking it must be Afrhost I got a test account from CrystalWeb, but we still have the same problem. So it doesn't look like it's ISP related.

Speedtests show all is fine.
I can even do http downloads at full speed.
But 2 people can't play CSGO at the same time

This didn't used to be an issue. Changing ISP's doesn't seem to make a difference. What can I do about this?

Was the crystalweb test account an uncapped account aswell?
My suggestion switch to a capped account anyway, then take it from there.

Did a tracert to www.crystalweb.co.za and I'm seeing MTN stuff... I know Afrihost uses MTN, but I didn't know Crystalweb also uses MTN... maybe that's where my problem is... mtn...

As far as I can tell, the line is fine. Almost everything I try and do seems to work as it should. I can even play War Thunder on a EU server just fine, but as soon as 2 people try and game at the same time it all comes crashing down.

This has been an on and off issue for quite some time now. Afrihost has been NO help at all, but no surprises there.

Right now all I can think is that it must be MTN...

OK, just switched to my Afrigreen account and now we can play together. It's still on the MTN network... so I dont' understand what is going on.

I almost never use the Afrigreen account as my normal account is for the most part better.

Also, if I do a speedtest on openspeedtest.com (HTML5 speedtest) with my NORMAL account I get 0.7mbit down (THat weird 90-95kb/s limit), but 3.6mbit with the Afrigreen account.

If I do a speedtest on speedtest.net (Stupid Flash Speedtest) with my NORMAL account, then it shows 3.5mbit down and the same with Agrigreen.

So there is clearly some other limitations on my normal account and the Crystalweb 1GB cap account that is not on the Afrigreen account. Thing is, I switched to my normal account about 4-5 weeks back because we were having issues on the Afrigreen account.

So overall I will still say most of the issues is a result of the MTN network. Guess all I can do is keep switching when one account is giving issues until something works, because Afrihost is no help.

I still hope someone here might have some better insight into how or why having 2 people game online at the same time is such a train smash.

I should probably also point out that last night I was playing War Thunder and my brother was play CSGO at the same time with no issues. This morning, we couldn't.

Firstly I would report a line fault anyway, to get that out of the equation in case there is a problem somewhere.
Otherwise test with Telkom ADSL and see if the problem persists.

Then you were not routing over your Crystal Web account and were still routing over your old Afrihost account.

Crystal Web does not use MTN whatsoever, and nor do our hosting providers for the front-end website.

If you PM me the username I can confirm this for you, check the Crystal Web connection, as well as check your line for you...

I don't know what to tell you... I've reset the router with the Crystalweb Free account and...

You're routing over your MTN/Afrihost account there. That is not a Crystal Web account. Hop on to our live chat on our website and one of our agents will walk you through getting this fixed up so you can have working internet again...

It's OK, figured it out...I think. I have a Bundle Deal with Afrihost. They manage the line. Apparently that's why I'm still seeing MTN stuff.

Once our new house is build in a couple of months I will move away from Afrihost and anything MTN and will give CrystalWeb a proper try as a friend of mine says Crystal works great for him.

No that's not the problem here at all. Afrihost managing the line will not restrict it at all to Afrihost-only accounts. You also won't see anything relating to Afrihost when they manage the line on any traceroutes. It all remains Telkom infrastructure.

What's happening here is either the modem or the PPPoE connection is not storing the new credentials. It's certainly best to hop on to chat with one of our agents (online till midnight) to try to help you out, as it's worrisome that it's continuing to revert to old credentials. It may indicate some or other type of fault we can help you pick up and fix...:)
