OK so I bought a new place. I am really keen on the 2MB uncapped account from MWeb and lucky me, they have a promotion on untill the end of December where on new accounts you get the first two months free! They also claim that they will cover the Telkom bill if you get the "Data & Line" package.
So anyway I called MWeb initially and they suggested that I sort out my line with Telkom first before applying for a contract. So anyway I went ahead and telkom installed an adsl line. Now because I have an adsl line installed (saving Mweb work) I can't apply for the data & line package for those first two months and can only the get the data package.
So basically I have to pay my telkom line rental, so this was falsely advertised.
The next problem is that if I dont want a debit order off my account and if I want to settle my account using EFT payments, I must pay for the first 3 months. So I said to the consultant that means I only pay for 1 month as the first 2 are free. But that is not how it works. So do i actually get anything free then??? the answer sadly is no.
Do you agree with me that this is false advertising? Should I report to the ASA?
