Hi.
I recently upgraded my account, and got the E220.
Right from the word go, the modem couldn't hold a connection longer than 15 minutes, so we called up 155 and reported the error. They walked us through the firmware (i think) upgrade, so we now have the new vmclite on the modem. It installs fine and works fine...
...except...
Every now and then (too often for my liking), the pc makes the 'usb device unplugged' noise a few times in quick succession, and then immediately afterwards, the 'usb device connected' sound, again a few times in quick succession.
We lived with it for a couple of weeks (seemed to happen less on the longer cable provided), but today we couldn't connect at all. Called 155 again just now, and we were walked through the entire uninstall/reinstall process. The callcenter agent tells us that our USB port is not supplying enough voltage to the modem, which is what is causing it to eject.
This happens on my wife's 3 month old (from new) Proline T-12 Notebook, AND I can replicate the problem on my Lenovo 3000 N200. What's more, is I can replicate the problem on my P4 Desktop, where I was under the impression that voltage abounds, due to a 650W psu.
Has anyone else had similar problems with the E220, and even better, does someone have a solution? Is the modem possibly faulty?
