Can someone please shed light on this? Driving me NUTS.
When I go to any web page via link or url on the address bar, the tab at the bottom stalls on 'waiting for www.facebook.com' facebook is not open anywhere on the browser, there are no links with facebook on the sites. I have never subscribed to Facebook and do not have an account. Chrome is also taking a long time to load pages when it is stuck on the facebook thing, Why is Facebook taking the liberty of barging in on user's Google accounts when it has nothing to do with Facebook?? Grrrrrr.

Check for rogue extensions perhaps?

Checking for rogue extensions is actually the first thing I did. I have no extensions at all except AdBlock. I did a security check on my Google account and Facebook is like NOWHERE. What puzzles me is that I do not even have a Facebook account so how come they are targeting my Google search engine? Weird. What gives Facebook the right to just pounce on us like this?

Perhaps it has something to do with some isp's giving free data for facebook - just guessing.

Possible. I've tried contacting Google online but I notice someone else posted the exact same problem a while ago and Google gave no answer....so it might even be Google up to tricks. Ah well....I'm just ignoring it. Doesn't seem to interfere with any of my activities on Google...just that little tab that pops up when I first log on. Then it disappears.
Technology....you either love it or you hate it....but you can't live without it bro.

have you ruled out possibility that Facebook ads are showing or trying to load on the pages?

try using incognito mode with no extensions.. still get the issue?

Ruled out. I always use incognito mode. Also have Adblock extension so I never get a single advert from anyone including Facebook (yippee). I'm just wondering though....I was browsing Google a coupla weeks ago looking for Xmas markets in my area and quite a few of them came up with Facebook pages so I migrated to their Facebook pages but did not sign up/join on any of them...just looked at when and where their markets are, then flipped away again immediately. Surely Facebook can't pick up on that? Heck...makes me feel quite weird a la Xfiles...."Big Brudder is watchin' u"

wow yeah if you are using incognito all the time then they should not track you between sessions. very weird.

have a site link to test with? or is it any site

Oddly enough...nope. It only happens when I open Google for the first time...i.e. when I switch on my PC and then go into Google to open any website...then that tab pops up. But only then. It does not pop up again after that. I have noticed that as I have been on quite a number of different sites today. So that is why I am just ignoring it now. It is a rather bizarre phenomenon though. Would be interesting to see how many other folks experience this when they open the first website on Google.

Does it happen on first load of a website after opening chrome, or immediately when you open chrome..?
