hopefully heaven but probably hell
found this on their 'indcident report' page.

14/04/06 DoS attack 14/04/06 All iBurst subscribers
A DoS attack is being experienced causing severe delays to mail delivery.

14/04/06 Longhaul failures 14/04/06 Durban and Cape Town base stations
Longhaul failures were experienced resulting in total outage to Durban and Cape Town connectivity

interestingly enough they dont mention anything about the weird behaviour last night in jhb area.

:EDIT:
Speeds are back to their normal 40-50K range, still no answer from iburst when they are going to deal with their over saturation of towers.

Had two outages in Durban last night each lasting about an hour.

Came back really flying, also the odd packet loss that i was getting to some(not all) international destinations seems to be fixed.

All in all i am still pretty happy with IB. In the last three months i have had two, week long fights with telkom to get my line reconnected after it was pulled down by the monkeys.

The odd hour down by IB seems pretty acceptable in comparison.

yea i think iburst certianly have a better up time in comparison to other forms of internet in this country. however some towers are going downhill in terms of speed because they are over selling and not catering for this speed loss.

i guess i was burnt by sentech and i would hate to see the same thing happen to iburst.
