I am looking for assistance with logitech X-530 speakers.

I am running W7-64bit.
My mobo, is capable of 5.1 Surround sound. MSI H61M - E23 (B3).

setup the speakers...
tried to do the test, only getting sound from FL, FR and Subwoofer.
downloaded latest sound drivers for my mobo...same result.
bought a new sound card ... same result

Did you check the cables to make sure none are broken?

Did you try set your speakers to 7.1 in Control Panel?

Probably a Windows setting. Go through everything in Control Panel > Sound. There's a place to set it to 5.1.

try setting "speaker fill" in your audio control panel...

Yes i did, was on of the first things i tried, tested each speaker on the front L/R channels and they worked...then I got them exchanged, then eventually bought a sound card.

5.1 is selected in the audio manager panel

Perhaps conflict between Windows and sound card as to who does the job?

Test other speakers in FL and FR ports?

5.1 is selected in the audio manager panel

Try this:

Go to Control Panel -> Sound, then select Speakers and click 'Properties' at the bottom right. Then select the Advanced tab.

Under 'Exclusive Mode' make sure both boxes are unticked.

Go back to the Sound window, and select Speakers again and click Configure at the bottom left, and go through the wizard.

Depends on what source you're playing. A number of people have complained to MS that the audio output was changed between XP and Vista. It seems that XP didn't have a problem sending 2.0 or 2.1 audio through ALL speakers in a 5.1 system, while Vista (and Win7) are far "stricter" and will only send 2.0 audio to the FL & FR channels. Some people are happy with the "speaker fill" workaround but it sounds bloody dreadful and cannot be used to simulate 2 sets of speakers.

Control Panel -> Hardware & Sound -> Sound -> Manage Audio Devices. Select your device and click on Configure.

1. What options are listed under "Audio channels" and which one is selected?
2. If 5.1 is available and selected, use the speaker test on the right to test the RL & RR speakers. What happens?
