Problems with SatCR LNB

Hey guys,

I bought a SatCR LNB for my new HD PVR and installed it as suggested by many people on this site and everything seemed to be fine. However, when I contacted DSTV to activate the channels I found that certain channels did not pick up (no signal) and some others are very choppy.

The lady at DSTV said that it was because of the LNB and also that I could not view any of the channels on the Horizontal service - this doesn't sound very good.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

you need to pull a horizontal and a vertical cable from the dish. That will sort out your issues. For help go to www.dstv.com and click on Forums. tons of stuff there.

Actually i figured it out with the help of the Manual that comes with the decoder .... page 49 of 60 ...
- go to installation menu
- in Network setup
- Change SATELITE to Other
- Change LNB to SATCR
all done
works perfectly !!!

(nice to know that the DSTV help desk people know about this - sarcastic)

It will be the alignment of the SatCR, if its not aligned properly you wont be able to pick up channels on both polarities, so you are picking up vertical channels but not horizontal. Its likely moved very slightly over time but was probably never perfectly aligned
You can try align it yourself, should be about 4 o clock looking into the dish. Get someone inside to check the signals on channel 101 (vertical) & 255 (horiz) while you move it slightly

A SatCR is only 1 cable...

Only saw this post now, not sure how you were picking up any channels if the network setting was wrong, but as long as its working now
HDPVRs do have a habit of resetting to defaults lately, so that seems to have happened to you

Hi hi. Did you replace the LNB yourself? Is it an easy process?

I'm considering replacing my LNB with SatCR, as I'm currently running the HD PVR 2p via hack-job splitter cable from single LNB. Although this works, there are sometimes minor issues with recording and viewing another channel (have to set auto-tune with recording booking).

The LNB is held in place in a bracket with 2 screws. It's easy as pie, as long as you align the replacement LNB to the same angle as the original.

The way to go!!

Gents,

Seems like the LNB with SatCR is the way to go as I recently got a HDPVR system and I am on the second floor and really do not feel like the ladder climb and adding a second cable into the roof etc, etc.

Can someone please let me know where the SatCR LNB's are available and what are the costs? Anything else to take into consideration as I am new to this all!

Thanks in advance!!

Satcr and Menu problem

Three weeks ago I upgraded to Single HDPVR and SatCR Lnb
Been back to installer three times and twelve calls to Helpdesk Let's skip the varying advice from Helpdesk
My problems are
No TVGuide I see the channels and times but no text can switch between time and channel
No Movies on demand Can switch between sport and movies
No Box Office Have registered twice

Signal and quality is both 100% on Tuner1 but nothing on Tuner2
Reset to Factory settings
Rescanned
Set to Is7 Tried Other
Tried SatCr and Satcr universal
Done two software upgrades one at Dealer and one from Helpdesk Menue shows latest update loaded
Dish cable in Ln1 Sat Cr
All channels sound and picture and information perfect
Problem exists at dealers setup which has signal and quality at 96%
Dish is mine not communal
A lot of Helpdesk say Sat CR does not work on HD PVR Dealer says he has hundreds that work
Supplier of LNB says it works on HDPVR
I am told all other settings are correct
Movies on demand help desk most knowledgable Last call lasted 70 min
Most calls end by being told wait 48 hours then see what happens but still
No TV Guide No movies on Demand and No Box Office
Recording works fine Playback fine Deleting Fine

Can't understand why Tuner2 is not receiving a signal It did at Dealers setup Helpdesk said it should in 48 hours
Dealer says SatCR just runs on different frequency to normal Dual Lnb and the problem sits with DSTV transmission

Any suggestions ......

Two things to consider:
1) The port marked Sat-Cr (normally gold colour) needs to be connected to the Sat-Cr port on the decoder.
2) After setting "LNB Mode" on the installations menu to "Sat-Cr", you need to press OK to save the settings and then press the blue button on your remote to re-scan the network.
If you do this, it should be fine.

Also good to set the network name to OTHER, instead of DStv IS7... more stable.

HI GUYS

A FEW POINTS TO NOTE WHEN IT COMES TO SATCR LNBS.
THE SIZE OF THE DISH MATTERS,USE 80CM KU DISH OR LARGER.
LNB SETTING ,MAKE SURE YOU ADJUST LNB TO MAX.
IF YOU ARE USING AN EXPLORA 1 ,DON'T USE USER BAND 0.USER BAND 1,2,3.
ENABLE ADDITIONAL NETWORKS & SCAN THAT NETWORK.
THE MISSING CHANNELS EG 111,116,175,325 ETC WILL BE SCANNED.
ITS ADVISABLE TO RESET THE DECODER TO FACTORY DEFAULTS BEFORE YOU FFW THE ABOVE PROCESS.
IF YOU ARE USING MORE THAN 1 DECODER MAKE SURE THAT THE SATCR LNB SUPPORTS 24 OR 30 USER BANDS,IF IT DOESN'T THEN IT WILL ONLY WORK WITH 1 EXPLORA.
