Hi,

Ihave Telkom supplied Marconi WIFI Router supplied with the 512 kbs ADSL package. The system has been running for about 2 months now.

Recently (about 10 days ago) I lost ability to connect by wireless which had been working up till then. I changed USB dongles and settings to no avail.

I have since been working hardwired. The Router has three PCs hardwired.
Normally at night I turn router off.

This morning I turned router on once all the lights had stabilsed found the following

Indicator Light for Port 4 keeps flashing, but nothing is attached. If you connect to it you do not get a DNS address (automatical;y assigned) It should be 10.0.0.0 Sometning, All u get is 196.?.? etc ie static address.

Port 3 would not assign an address to my Laptop. I changed connection to Port 2 and received and address but could not access Web. Indicator light 3 keeps flashing rapidly.

I tried turning Router on and off and eventually pushed reset button. Nothing Helps.

Questions :
1. I suspect Router is now defunct. Can any one advise (Will try Telkom later. but u can expect reply).
2. Can some one advise me of a good wifi, 4 port router/modem. The make, the price and a store in Cape Town

Thank you

Went to local Telkom shop after trying Telkom support. Telkom support indicated that router should be replaced. Went to shop and they replaced it immediately. System now back and running including wireless. The speed with router was replaced seems to indicate that they are used to this. D Link wireless router has been recommended to me.
Any one have any comments re D Link before I rush out and buy. Intend keeping new Telkom router/modem as a spare!

There is absolutly nothing wrong with d-link, they make GREAT wireless routers...i would know (i own a gamers lounge)

oh...and on that scoop site, it would appear that everything is FREE :D

...im sure its a mistake tho :(
