So I'm getting this new PC right (yeah, still waiting), and I was thinking if it's worth it to shell out an extra R700 to go from a Core 2 Duo E4500 to a Core 2 Duo E8200? Does that little .46 Ghz make enough difference to justify the extra cash? Info appreciated as always :)

Hi there

The main difference is that the E8200 is a Penryn based chip, i.e it's the 45nm technology. It also has the newer SSE4.1 instructions for multimedia encoding and some other tweaks and improvements. Also runs on a 1333 Front side bus.

If your motherboard can take the chip, get the E8200, and you'll have less power draw and a cooler system as well.

Intel® Boxed Core2™Duo E4500 Processor - 2.20GHz Dual Core, Socket 775, 2MB cache, 800MHz FSB, 65nm, x64 Support

Intel® Boxed Core2™Duo E8200 Processor - 2.66GHz Dual Core, Socket 775, 6MB cache, 1333MHz FSB, 45nm, x64 Support

There is a big difference between the two...

So ar yu goin to get it through PCint? jus to let yu knw ive never bought anything 4rm them but there prices are so thats why i gave yu the link...So i dnt knw hw gud their service and that is:cool:

ja, but just be wary of their "service", they just don't have a great name for it
... ja, have used them for about 6 PC's now and have had a 50-50 rate with their service. But I can overlook the service because of those 6 PC's, not one ever bombed out and like I mentioned .... beautiful prices. :D:D

dealer prices from a store - they really are great - if you don't need "service" - coz that doesnt exist
