Whislt trying to sort my mac mini, looking at iMac options.

Two options

1. 21.5-inch iMac with Retina 4K display 3.4GHz 1TB 8 GB RAM - R21 999

Or

2. 21.5-inch iMac with Retina 4K display 3.0GHz 1TB, but with 16GB RAM. With 8GB RAM - R25 499

(Apple charges $200 to upgrade it from 8 GB to 16 GB). Must confirm SA price.

Want to keep imac for some time...from there the idea to rather have more ram than extra bit of processing speed.

The correct way of doing it - just get a Pc :)

More RAM. 400MHz isn't a lot, and won't be felt. RAM on the other hand will result in a lot less page-filing and increasedoverall speed.

If its the same CPU with just a different speed i doubt you will feel a difference. For long term the extra RAM will be far more useful.

Ram is expensive. 'Apple' ram is even more expensive. I would require minimum 16GB Ram. What Graphics Card does it have?
I don't see the point in having a high spec PC (uhm... Mac) with Intel Graphics.

My computer also will require a minimum of 4GB GPU ram or preferably 8GB.

So it really depends what you want to do with the computer.
