As per title, is it possible, and under which category does it fall?

Or did I waste a few years...

Will contact ECSA themselves, just want to find out whether anyone has done it?

You can email ECSA - they're usually quite friendly. If not ask your uni's school you studied it at and they should be able to put you in contact with the relevant person

Electronic engineering I would think. Shouldn't be a problem, providing you have at least three years of the correct type of experience.

Electrical / Electronics Engineer

Contact Person is Thabo Sereng

[email protected]

Current time frame to complete this process is about a year if all your paperwork is 100% in order.

As part of ECSA code of conduct I cannot saying anything more ....

Yes. It falls under Electronic Engineering. It takes a year (Submitted in July 2014), received registration number October 2015. Its very timing dependent (corrections required (if any), when the interviews happen, when the board sits etc etc).

Why register as a prof eng? Most guys I know in the electronics field don't bother (they did initially) as there was no benefit to them. For guys in civils etc it's a different story though.

It looks better in your email signature :D It allows you to sign-off designs, more responsibility, higher job positions, more money etc

Just ask PRASA.

But yeah, you improve your company's profile by having "signing off rights" on designs etc. so it does come with a pay hike. Also, many positions require professional registration.

I just sent through my papers to renew mine. Process is a ball ache, but worth it.

Can anyone comment on this, )

If you are working in design / consulting engineering I would say it is a must. Your salary will be way higher, also years down the line you can run your own practice since you will have authority to sign off designs.

You fall under Electrical Engineering. According to the ECSA Discipline specific guidelines "Electrical engineering includes electronic engineering".

Hi Nicbst may I ask where you trained as I ma looking at reskillling coming from a programming background, just seems the local training isn't very specific having compared it to TAFE in say OZ. Thanks!
