Program Extractor

Hi guys. I have a small problem. Is there anyway I can extract a program off a pc to run on another pc as I dont have the install disks for it anymore.

Is there a program that can extract a program off your pc with all the files associated with it. or at least show me the files associated with it?

Depends on the program.

Some things like Microsoft Office and the like is impossible to move while others like Eclipse keeps everything in one neat folder.

Well is there a program that I can try? its a small program, but it doesnt keep eveything in one folder

What TiredOfWaiting is saying, is that, if the program doesn't have any registry things and the like, then maybe it will be easy to copy it across.
What is the program?

Some program's are really good, and will reinstall the registry once moved. I re-installed my PC, and then just started a program that was installed on previous version of Windows (Audiacity, i think) and it still worked perfectly...

First give it a go just copy it, and try. Then if that don't work, try looking for a specialized program

wrong about ms office,its is installed neatly on the c drive as a hidded folder.
All you have to do is show hidden files and folders and go into c/mso the mso folder and seach there for the set up .exe.this folder is large so you can take everything out and install it on a different windows,only shyte is that you must have the serial key again.

on the note of another program just seach thw windows folder for that setup file if its still there,if not you can seach the system 32 folder for pieces of it,or go to program files and seach there for it.

it you made a back up of your registry then all you have to do is submit the registry back up and seach and install.
But it is tru that some forms of programs are totally messed up and the only way is to get a install file again,1 eg is photoshop cs,sometimes firefox 2 but usually you will find most stuff in the program files

It's kinda tricky and depends on the program. You can use Regmon&Filemon to see what files/reg keys it is accessing. If you don't know what a reg key is then forget it.

AFAIK System Mechanic had a tool. Never tried it.

type in regedit and delete all entrys,this will get you on top of things...hey just kidding dont ever do that,but like conspir... said it is kinda tricky..If i knew the program you seaching for then i could help i am sure i could tell you what to do
